Now working for you

"I spent my career inside businesses like yours before I started this. I believe the social value work you're already doing is your most under-used commercial asset, and told properly, it wins business."

My Story.

I'm a Chartered Marketer (FCIM) with over a decade leading marketing in-house for construction, property and professional services businesses, the brand, the campaigns, the day-to-day of the role. Alongside that, I kept noticing something else. It started with things like charity days, then grew into marketing sitting inside sales and bid teams, auditing every supplier in the chain to find where we could genuinely do good, for the right reasons. The story only ever came after.

Woven through the whole business like that, it becomes a revenue driver, a conversation starter, and something that builds culture inside a business as much as trust outside it. It just needs someone who notices it, gets involved, and ties it all together. That's what I do.

You can hire a social value consultant.

They'll map your activity against the National TOMs, calculate the proxy value, and write the method statement your next tender needs. What they won't do is get that story in front of a journalist, weave it into your brand, or use it to build trust with the client already sat across the table from you.

You can hire a marketing leader.

They'll get your business heard, build the brand, and earn the trust of whoever's sat across the table from you. What they won't usually know is how to turn a sponsorship or a charity day into something that actually scores on a tender, or which activity counts under the frameworks that matter.

I'm both.

Most businesses I work with never set out to hire a social value consultant, they hire a marketing leader, and get the first one built in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will you work from our office?

Yes, when it's useful. My default is remote and hybrid working, it's usually the most efficient way to get things done, but I'm regularly on-site with clients too. I'm based in Hertfordshire and travel within a 50-mile radius as standard, covering London and the Home Counties.

Do you only do social value work, or full marketing leadership too?

Full marketing leadership. You can hire a social value consultant, and you can hire a marketing leader — it's rare to find someone who does both properly, and that blend is the actual offer.

Do you specialise in a particular sector?

Construction, property and professional/consultancy services, that's where my network and experience is deepest. The underlying principles apply to any B2B or B2C business, so it's not a hard restriction, just where I add the most value fastest.

Are you just public sector?

No. Public sector tenders are where social value scoring is most visible, thanks to PPN 06/20, but the same activity builds trust, earns media coverage and strengthens culture regardless of who your client is. Most of what I do works just as well for a private client who never touches a public contract.

The 1% Club

Every year, 1% of Emma Cox Limited's net profit goes to charities supporting mental health in construction, whatever kind of year it's been. A standing commitment, not a good-year bonus.
